I just answered a question on the https://www.letsrun.com/ Runners Site from a runner wanting help with a chronic achilles injury. The key is to find what is the 1° root cause. There’s a phenomena called “Double Crush” which means the nerves, arteries, veins and lymph vessels can be impinged along the course of the nerve/artey/vein causing the tendon or muscle to spasm and make it more prone to tears and strains.
Reach out to me if you want me to take a look and find your 1° root cause. I can do this over Zoom or in person here in Bellingham, WA
That being said, there are some things to do that can help even before seeing me. Here’s what I wrote on the message board with the links you can use. What you can do is watch the video, do the self treatment technique, and then see how you feel. Does it make a difference?
Here you go!
I’m a physical therapist specializing in helping runners overcome chronic injury. Strain CounterStrain can be quite useful, because instead of trying to stretch an injured, inflamed, torn tendon and muscle, we take the pressure off and the body can self-correct.
You can try these videos of self treatment techniques.
