Integrative Physical Therapy
Personalized Integrative Physical Therapy for Optimal Healing
Integrative Physical Therapy in Bellingham
Integrative Physical Therapy also called IMT Integrative Manual Therapy is a method developed by the late Sharon Giammatteo PT PhD IMtC and her husband Tom Giammatteo DC ND IMTC.
This is a medical model type of physical therapy. You can see some of the success stories here. https://autoimmuneanswers.com
When dealing with chronic health challenges such as Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue or Autoimmune conditions such as
- Type 1 diabetes : Affects the pancreas and can cause symptoms like thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, and an increased susceptibility to infection
- Graves’ disease : Affects the thyroid gland
- Inflammatory bowel disease : Includes ulcerative colitis and possibly Crohn’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis : Affects the nervous system
- Psoriasis : Affects the skin and causes patches of flaky, inflamed skin
- Rheumatoid arthritis : Affects the joints
- Scleroderma : Affects the skin and other structures, causing the formation of scar tissue
- Systemic lupus Erythematosus: Affects connective tissue and can strike any organ system of the body
Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis)
Psoriasis.
Psoriatic arthritis.
Or any of the many Autoimmune conditions people experience a wide range of symptoms, such as:
- Fatigue
- Frequent fevers
- A general sick feeling
- Joint pain and swelling
- Skin problems, such as redness or rashes
- Stomach pain or digestion issues
- Swollen glands
And at best the traditional medical system can only offer partial relief of the symptoms but no answer to help truly heal from these conditions.
With Integrative Physical Therapy, IMT Integrative Manual Therapy we look to help the person get healthier so they can heal naturally. We’re not trying to fix or cure anything.
Instead Integrative Physical Therapy is a structural medical approach.
What this means is say for example the “house” of your liver and lungs and heart was restricted. Less mobility and some structural tightnesses and asymmetry in your ribcage and spine and pelvis.
This “house” your organs sit in would be restricted. Compromised….
And the blood flow in and out of the area would be compromised. Imagine the lungs for example with a tight rib cage. Virus and bacteria would be able to take hold and the body would be less able to fight it.
Imagine the house the liver sits in being compromised. The 700+ functions the liver does could be compromised.
Same with any organ system. If the “house” is tight and restricted the organs can’t function optimally. This sets people up for chronic illness.
With Integrative Physical Therapy (IMT-integrative manual therapy) we work to restore the mobility and structure of the body and allow it to function optimally.
The body then heals because it has good blood and lymph and nerve flow.
So how do we do this?
Now the key is myfascial mapping which is a hands on ( and can be done at a distance as well) where I can find the physical as well as the non-physical restrictions in a person’s body.
With this information I can determine the 1° root cause and go about correcting it.
Once the structure is returned to full and normal, the body can have immediate changes.
Even in what were seemingly incurable conditions we’ve seen what look like miracles to most people. If doctors don’t have answers for you yet, you may benefit from this type of healing work.
