Let me tell you about Hierarchy of Protection….
The key to fixing up and healing from a running injury or any health challenge is to find the “Why”…
Why is the body breaking down? Why would a body not just heal up a hip or knee or calf or ankle? or a lower back or any health issue?…
The body will protect itself… And sometimes the protection looks like a breakdown in the body…
It’s kinda like if you have a fire at your house… the police and firemen will be using axes and flooding the house with water…. to find and save the people inside and stop it from spreading to other houses….
But someone could come come home and find all these firemen and police and the noise and water and flashing lights and road blocks and detours and get upset…
“these police and fireman are causing too much problems here!!!”
Let’s take some drugs and surgery and use kinesio tape and knee straps to stop these spasms and pains…. in the case of hip and knee and calf pains this is how many medical and physical therapy approaches work… what are the symptoms and how do we stop them…
But that’s like telling the police to go away, turn off the sirens, take away the detours, tell the firemen to go home….
So the key is what is the cause of the fire….
For the body we find bone bruises, disruptions in membrane walls (called leaky gut, vessel, nerve, bone), infection & inflammation…
With a myofascial mapping assessment, I can find the 1° root causes. The body will protect important structures like the Gut and blood vessels and nerves and bone and try to wall off infection and it will use inflammation to try to protect these areas…
By finding the true cause we can do the treatment that’s directed to the actual reason someone is not healing, fix that up and see immediate changes.
It’s how we did a bone bruise technique, fixed up a leaky gut issue and helped a runner yesterday leave pain-free in his knee.
Now in his case we saw that one of the causes is gluten sensitivity… more on that in other posts… So if he can go gluten free he can restore the health to his Gut, free up his pelvis and hip and start to get better bone health…
It may sound complicated and daunting but with myfoascial mapping an Integrative Manual Therapist can systematically find and correct the root causes and runners can run again.
It’s how I solved a chronic calf cramp 29 years ago…. after suffering with it for 8 months….
