Life gives us obstacles. Pain, stress, relationship heartbreak, or money worries — they all show up in the body and the mind.

I’m Ralph Havens, and after 40 years as a physical therapist and healer, I’ve seen the same truth again and again: when the mind and spirit are stuck, the body often stays stuck too.

Older than technique. Deeper than thought.

The practice I’m sharing has existed across traditions — in the Bible, in Buddhist teachings, and in the simple wisdom of people who know how to turn hardship into peace.

Why this matters

If you’re a runner, active person, or someone living with chronic pain, you might have already tried strengthening, stretching, or medical treatments — and still feel stalled.

That’s because some obstacles sit deeper than muscles and joints. They live in the nervous system:

  • the gut-twisting anxiety
  • the chest-squeezing sadness
  • the shame that won’t quit

What this practice does

This process is simple, direct, and powerful. It helps you locate what’s stuck, bring kind attention to it, and allow the body to release it.

The result? More peace, clearer thinking, and often — real changes in physical symptoms.

Real examples

  • An athlete’s ankle pain from an old car crash — improved after one session.
  • A child terrified of water after almost drowning — one session and he could swim.
  • Chronic knee pain and deep shame clearing together in focused practice.
  • Personal challenges like misophonia (sensitivity to eating sounds) — relieved through this method.

How to try it (short guide)

  1. Notice what’s bothering you — the thought, the memory, the tension.
  2. Find where it lives in your body. Feel it (no explanation required).
  3. Follow a guided sequence (PDF/video below) and allow the sensation to change.
  4. Afterward, test: stand, walk, bend, move. Notice the difference.

Why you don’t have to “figure it out”

Many of the stresses we carry began before we had words — in early childhood or even in the womb.

This practice isn’t about intellectualizing or rehashing; it’s about giving your nervous system a chance to complete what it never could.
