One Simple Way To Have A More Open Stride with greater hip mobility…. Running Tip…. may be an East African Secret???
It’s really quite simple…. There’s something we found back in 2003 that helped our clients who were dealing with chronic pains and conditions. My teacher Sharon Giammatteo PT PhD first alerted us to this idea.
She told us to get all our patients off gluten….
What does this have to do with running and hips and performance?
Well, over the 39 years of being a physical therapist and the 50 years of being a runner I’ve seen something.
When a runner is 100% gluten free their hips and pelvis are more open and free with greater range of motion. 100% gluten free helps runners perform better.
I have some links below so you can check it out and a video using an Integrative Manual Therapy technique to start the healing process and see immediate changes in hip motion and decreases in pain. If you have hip or knee pain especially right sided try the video below and if you want help with the gluten free let me know.

And as far as the East African Gluten Free connection…. The traditional Kenyan diet is maize corn meal based and the Ethiopians use Teff grains.
Both 100% gluten free and when you watch the East Africans run compared to others you see a more open stride with looser hips.
