Heal The Runner

How do you recover from a running injury that keeps coming back?

How do you heal a chronic injury instead of simply managing the pain?

And how do you take things a step further and
optimize your running form and performance?

My approach is to look at the whole runner.

Mind. Body. Spirit.

These ideas show up in many of the great wisdom, healing and spiritual traditions.
I’ve developed practical ways of applying some of these principles to healing,
running and life.

I’ve put together the resources below so you can start exploring them yourself.

#1 — The Inner Game Process

The first piece is your inner game.

There is a very specific way you can use your mind, intention and awareness
to clear things that may be getting in the way of healing.

This isn’t simply about “thinking positive.”

It’s a process you can actually practice.

Your mind matters — not only in running and performance, but in healing and in life.

#2 — Enlighten Up & Get What You Want

The second resource is something I call The Gift.

I created a short ebook called:

Enlighten Up & Get What You Want

And I’m giving it away for free.

It contains something you can practice that is
under your control at any given moment.

We spend a lot of time trying to control things that aren’t really under our control.
This gives you something different to work with.

#3 — Gluten-Free & Reducing Inflammation

The third piece involves nutrition.

What you eat can be an important part of the healing process, particularly when
inflammation is part of the picture.

I’ve put together a free ebook that explores a gluten-free approach and why it
may be worth considering for some people dealing with chronic inflammation
and health issues.

#4 — Integrative Manual Therapy for Runners

And then, of course, there’s the physical body.

This is where my more than 41 years as a physical therapist comes into play.

I’ve been using Integrative Manual Therapy since 2000, and I use specific IMT
techniques to help runners address pain, restrictions and movement patterns
that can affect both healing and running performance.

The goal isn’t simply to ask:

“Where does it hurt?”

Instead, we want to ask:

“Why is it hurting?”

And even more importantly:

“What’s keeping it from healing?”

That’s where looking for the root cause becomes so important.

Find The Root Cause

Sometimes you’ve done everything you’re “supposed” to do.

You’ve rested.
You’ve stretched.
You’ve strengthened.
You’ve changed your shoes.
You’ve changed your training.
You’ve gone to therapy.

And yet…

The injury keeps coming back.

That’s when I want to look deeper.

Using myofascial mapping and Integrative Manual Therapy, I can help
map out what’s happening and look for the underlying patterns that may be
contributing to your injury or condition.

The goal is to identify the primary root cause — the thing that
may be keeping the rest of the system from resolving.

Once we find that, we can develop a path toward healing and getting you back
to doing what you love.

Running.
Racing.
Training.
Playing.
Living.

#5 — Free Root Cause Session

If you’re dealing with a running injury, chronic condition or recurring problem
and you’re not getting the answers or results you want, let’s talk.

I’m offering a Free Root Cause Session to help you determine
whether we can identify what’s really going on.

We can work together in Fairhaven, Washington, or worldwide via Zoom.

Heal The Runner. Optimize Performance.

I don’t believe you’re just a knee.

Or an Achilles.

Or a plantar fascia.

Or a hamstring.

You’re a whole person.

And healing can involve the whole person.

Mind. Body. Spirit.

That’s the approach I use to help runners recover from chronic and recurring
injuries — and then take the next step toward optimizing their running form
and performance.
