A simple home program to work on your spine, head and to help clear up tightness and restrictions in your craniosacral system. by Ralph Havens, PT. Physical Therapist Bellingham, WA from Ralph Havens Physical Therapy
In this short article I want to show you a common cause of headaches, tension, spine pain and a simple way to help fix it up. Try it and let me know what you notice how it helps.
A common cause of headaches and other conditions in the spine is what’s called a descended phenomenon. By that I mean the sacrum or lower bone, the triangle shaped bone at the base of your spine is pulled down toward the feet. There is a tug on the spinal cord and this pulls on the connective tissue surrounding the brain in the skull. This can cause all sorts of problems and pains especially headaches and other spine pains.
The descended phenomena can occur after whiplash, or falls or other trauma. There is a simple physical therapy technique that can help fix this up.
So here’s the self-treatment technique. Simply place one hand on your forehead and the other hand on the base of your spine on the sacrum. There are two little bumps on the sacrum that can look like dimples in your lower low back area. The Sacrum is right there. Place one hand on the sacrum and one on your forehead Another hand position is to place one hand on the top of the head and the other hand on the sacrum.
Now leave the hands in place without letting go for 20 minutes. You might want to test how you feel beforehand so you can prove it to yourself how it works.
It’s that simple. Try it and you can repeat this often. It works on the craniosacral system and helps loosen up the spine, sacrum and head areas. It fixes up the descended phenomenon.
Taking the time to do this is a bit of a commitment but you’ve already shown the commitment to your health. You’ve read thru this article. You take the effort to find answers. You already do this now.
